K9s.org, the nation’s leading nonprofit deploying trained K9s to law enforcement and schools, has appointed J.P. Davis as Chief Executive Officer. A seasoned strategist in mission-driven growth and public trust, Davis takes the helm as the organization scales from grassroots impact to national infrastructure.
Founded in 2010 by Kristi Hoss Schiller, K9s.org (formerly K9s4COPs) has placed over 300 trained K9s in 29 states—leading to $8 billion in contraband seized, 500,000 illegal weapons removed, 150,000+ certified training hours delivered, and millions of students protected. Through its initiatives—K9s4COPs, K9s4KIDs, and K9s4CARE—the organization fills critical safety gaps where local resources fall short and threats are on the rise.
But demand is outpacing supply. More than 700 departments are on the waitlist for trained K9s to detect narcotics, locate missing persons, intercept explosives, and protect schools.
“I didn’t build K9s.org to fit a broken system—I built it to replace the parts that were failing us,” said Founder Kristi Hoss Schiller. “One K9. One fallen officer. That’s where it began. Since then, we’ve taken billions in contraband off the streets and placed dogs where safety couldn’t wait. Now, with J.P. Davis, we have the urgency, discipline, and clarity to scale this mission into a national force.”
Davis, founder of JP Davis Partners, has raised over $100 million in philanthropic capital, leading campaigns for the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation, March of Dimes, and the University of Louisville. Most recently, he served as CEO of T. Bain & Co., where he transformed the brand into a modern platform for leadership and social impact.
“K9s.org is a force multiplier for public safety—on school campuses, in vulnerable communities, and across the frontlines of law enforcement,” said J.P. Davis. “We’re scaling across all 50 states, building national alliances, and advancing K9s as essential safety infrastructure. This isn’t just about dogs—it’s about deterrence, protection, and saving lives before tragedy strikes.”
“Kristi built a legacy from loss—and redefined how this country protects its people,” said J.P. Davis. “We have a proven model. Now we scale it, digitize it, and nationalize it. If you don’t know K9s.org yet, you will. We’re not waiting for change—we’re leading it.”
“No parent should have to pray through drop-off. No child should be trained to hide in a closet before they can tie their shoes—or understand what safety is supposed to feel like,” said Darrell Martin, CEO of Apex Trader Funding and Co-Chair of K9s.org. “We’re placing trained K9s where they belong—on the front lines of our children’s lives. These dogs don’t just deter—they defend. And with J.P. Davis at the helm, we’re not scaling a nonprofit—we’re building a national shield. This ends with us.”
This isn’t a handoff. It’s a call to action.
